Volunteering On The Farm

Huge thank you to all the volunteers that made it out to the farm for our first volunteer day in 6 years!

We scrambled and fought our way down our field scale patch of rainbow chard and spinach beet, tackling every weed in our way. These crops survived all summer hardly growing and being devoured by leaf miners so it’s elating to see them all thriving now in this September flourish.

It has been a long time since we had this many of our scheme members on the farm with us. So it really felt like old times again. Occupational therapy combined with people sharing stories, telling jokes and laughing - whilst battling some really difficult weeds.

Many hands make light work. When it’s your day job or a solitary task - it's just not the same. We love being peasants but you only get this much joy when it becomes a party.
